Information You Enter
Search Terms
When a visitor types a name, location, or other query into a search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider operating the tool. Newport News County Inmate Population does not store those search terms on its own system.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, we keep the submitted information long enough to read it, respond, and maintain ordinary business records. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement applies.

- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- Referring website or link, when one is available.

Outside Websites
This site links to public jail resources, sheriff and corrections pages, Virginia court and FOIA materials, federal locators, and outside search tools. Virginia public-records requests are governed by laws such as the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., but each outside website controls its own privacy practices after a visitor leaves this site.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure views, clicks, and interests across websites. Their tracking happens under their policies, not under the direct control of Newport News County Inmate Population.
